Well, to provide a few more specific details from I suppose you could say "a survivor"...
    Here's a first hand account:
    1. it was more like at least a third of the band, likely around 75-100 kids
    2. There were several chaperones there, atleast 10, including Mr. Beaulieu (Better known as Bobo) and his wife, Mrs. Bobo
    3. We originally swarmed McDonald's (as well as a local KFC) because many kids weren't eating the provided Chinese food, or were becoming sick from the change in diet (or from eating only rice for 5 days...)
    4. The first groups to attempt to make it back to the hotel waded through above the knee-deep water/sludge and ruined their sneakers, they also took about 2 hours getting back, made a big circle only to end up back where they started and had to try again... and it was still raining
    5. The later groups were led by Mr. Gardocki (sorry if i can't spell his name correctly) who had head out alone in search of a safe path, and then returned to lead us. My shoe's didn't even get wet thanks to him, there was some easy to avoid puddles about an inch deep on his path, but you could hop over them
    6. Most people got the food they ordered, though it was nuts/ hell in there (pardon my language)
    7. The power went out twice, but came back on in a few minutes each time, though it did continue to flicker
    8. There was one student who was unaccounted for until the very end because she went with a different chaperone group then she was supposed to, raising the stress level a bit, but she returned fine.
    9. And remember... DON'T DRINK THE WATER!!!

    a few other details
    1. the water was full of sewage
    2. It is rumored that we had 2 kids get their feet cut amongst the rubbel of the floods
    3. there were a whole lot more band members and foms in that McDonalds than people were led to believe
    4. The only reason that we went was because we didnt want to eat at that horrible banquet hall again
    5. All of the News Papers made it seem that the water was a few inches deep so the parents didnt worry but it was actually up to people's waists
    6. Some people actually had to scale 13 flights of stairs not just seven
    7. Many newspapers failed to mention the fact that band members were trapped in the elevators for a while after the power went out
    8. That was pretty much the most fun night of my life =]
