Derry News: Sausage vendor found guilty, vows to fight on

  • Mike · 1 year ago
This is an absurd response from the town. The traffic circle is, at best, a menace; allowing a food vendor to set up shop on the side of a state highway, in an already dangerous intersection, is senseless. Now the vendor wants to relocate to a location infinitely safer for himself and the motoring public, and the town balks, claiming liability issues.

he should find some neutral ground (pun intended)

I think the town is 100% in the right. Imagine if it was allowed, very shortly we would see vendors all over the place.
I think the traffic circle is a dangerous place for the cart.
I drive through the circle several times a day and have never wanted to stop and get a hot sausage due to this.

I feel safer going to a resturant anyway.

Every town I know of has street vendors. All of a sudden "street vendors" aren't good enough for Derry? LMAO. The other day I was up in Concord and there were street vendors all over the place. Heaven forbid the town do anything to create a "small town" appealing atmosphere. Picking on a sausage vendor who's trying to make a living. Outrageous imo.

I don't see what the problem is here. According to the article "He was given a summons on Jan. 30 and was arrested when he returned to the dump with his cart the following day" (Eric Parry). So he was given a summons not to go back there, and he did it anyway to flaunt the law. He asked for it and he got it.

Some say it was an "absurd repsonse from the town" (Mike). What do you expect the town to do. Ignore a flagrant law breaker!? Is that what you expect from your police department!? I know I don't. I would expect them to enforce the laws, which they did. NICE JOB DERRY PD! Keep up the good work.

There was nothing from the town stating that he could not be there. The Parks and Recreation Department lists locations where he is not allowed to vend, mostly parks and schools. It does not list the town's transfer station. He's trying to sell hot dogs! Maybe Steinhouse prefers hamburgers. Leave him alone.

Ok, how about we ALL stop picking on Mr. Souhlaris!? The town of Derry placed benches strategically located at the infamous rotary..Why not have a hot dog & a coke while watching the show?

Better yet, maybe the Derry Police can TASER Mr. Souhlaris while he tries to runaway on Mill Road?

Seriously? Spend your time enforcing laws that help the town. Don't pick on the hardworking guy trying to make a living. Instead of spending the time and effort to ban Souhlaris from vending at the dump, the town should be working toward fixing their outdated ordinances.

    Good Luck
    Souhlaris

Hey! Ex-Residence of Derry! You totally "get it". "Mr Police Officer, please don't TASER me...I'm only a law abiding resident!"

Get "with it, Derry!". LEAVE THE GUY ALONE!

Going to the "dump" is a "Social Event". "LET'S ALL BE NICE!"

    "Have a Hot Dog!

Mr. Soulharis, You ROCK! (I'm 48 - You look like Rod Stewart...I'll buy a hotdog from you any old time!).

By the way..."MARK" ???? Are you an As*? Derry PD has WAY too many "Officers"...(Yes Sir, No Sir). Too many "Boys".

The Derry Police has got to focus more on prosecuting people who are threatening to the well-being of the town. Prosecuting someone who was trying to sell some sausage is outrageous, one of these days the police department is going to get sued.
